Welcome to Hugtopia! We're so happy to have you all here. We know it can be stressful, starting in a game (or adding a character!) so in an effort to help, we bring you an Intro CR Meme!

We'll be posting this meme each application cycle for all players to meet and plot together, so please be sure to keep an eye out and help each other feel welcome. And be sure to check back often; someone may have a fun new idea in the middle of the night that you might not want to miss out on!

Brief history: Good Girl gets used by her prince charming, goes on a wild rampage pursuing revenge before calming down enough to decide that while the revenge isn't called off, she should do slightly less rampaging and a lot more working on herself.

What your character wants/needs: Friends!! She needs people to pester, mother hen, argue with, take her to task when she's unreasonable and dumb. She also just needs more things to do; she’s still bitter about her stint in robot show business. She'd like a job?

Seeking: Negative CR is welcome too! Long term goals are to challenge some of her notions about relationships and boundaries, but that's gonna be a project.

Brief personality: Are you lonely and want to discuss philosophical questions about your existance? Then let Kaworu be all over your loneliness and ask all sort of intrusive questions. HE LOVES EVERYONE, NO EXCEPTIONS. While Kaworu is very straightforward and will say "i love you" to pretty much anyone, he sees no one individually (unless you are a 14 year old boy called Shinji Ikari), so he means "love" in a very broad way. He is hard to understand, he asks a lot of question and generally he will be a huge weirdo because he doesn't actually know a lot about the world. Sorry about that, but he means well, though, I promise! He also has no self-care, no survival instincts and doesn't worry about himself at all; he honestly doesn't see himself as someone important.

Brief history: So! Kaworu isn't a human, he is actually an alien of sorts (but not really) which humans call Angels, and he is the last angel - Tabris. Humans kinda screwed him over and put his soul into a human body and treated him like a labrat for most of his human life. His kind was meant to destroy humans and pretty much every living being on Earth so Angels could take over buuuuuuut then Kaworu fell in love with a human boy named Shinji and eventually fell in love with all of mankind. And so he sacrificed himself to save them (and meanwhile doomed his race).

Shipping Preferences: No preferences, throw everything at me.

What your character wants/needs: Honestly, he needs to stop seeing humans as a whole and start seeing them individually (it will be H A R D). He needs to understand that he too is important in a way, and that his role does not define him. He also needs to learn about the world, this boy has never even eaten anything besides from pills.

Seeking: ANYTHING. the boy just arrived, after all. But he needs to learn to live apart from Shinji and the angels, and needs to learn his own worth somehow. And his own individuality too. Good luck with that though HE IS VERY STUBBORN ABOUT HIS ROLE. He specifically gravitates towards broken and pained people, loneliness and sadness, SO HEY, LET THIS WEIRDO ASK YOU VERY INTRUSIVE QUESTIONS ABOUT IT ALL.

Appearance: [Ref: here!] She features long white hair, golden eyes (notably with purple irises), large pointed elf like-ears, and distinctive red markings on her face. She stands around 5'4 currently. She tends to dress in teal or other colors, notably not in the dark robes represented in her icons.
Brief personality: Soft spoken and introverted, she has a reserved demeanor, as she tends to be more likely to listen to others than to speak too much of herself until she is more comfortable. Even then it depends on the sort of relationship being formed. She seems cautious, though is more expressive by the movements of her ears.
Brief history: A life so thoroughly defined by tragedy that she lost herself and became the villain in another's story for untold years, accompanied by a significant year and change of CRAU from Drift Fleet. This experience affected her and the choices she's made since, thanks to having an extended break from her previous environment as well as genuine support, and time to learn how to adjust, and to face some harsh truths about reality. More importantly, she had people to talk to during critical moments while she dealt with all sorts of issues, which Helped A Lot in guiding her toward who she is now, and where she wants to go.
Shipping Preferences: Not impossible, but it's complicated... helplessly waves hands at all this Baggage.

What your character wants/needs: What Honerva wants is to secure her future with Lup and Taako, which mostly involves a lot of research of the state of this world and taking risks on information gathering but she's... learning... to be more careful.

As for "needs", she's still generally learning how to People, she's Managing but this is an ongoing thing really, experiences... vary. She's still more likely to seem stiff and awkward around those she's less familiar with depending on circumstances, bonds take time. She's trying. She needs to Do Better and she knows this.

Seeking: More CR building opportunities really!

Her interests are fairly limited due to her general lack of experiences, though she's working on that. She's a bit shyer/slower to open up around unfamiliar people, but don't let that stop you. As sort of an antithesis to this, she's a main server at the cafe Affurgato, which gives her more of a chance to greet others more comfortably because at least it's her job to do so, and if they wish to carry on a conversation from there it's at least practice.

Brief personality: A sweet and airheaded music-loving cat. She's going to be your friend, you just don't know it yet.
Brief history:
• Hummy is a magical talking cat living in a world of music called Major Land. There are humans, furries, living musical instruments that play themselves, and a lot of other magic talking cats there.
• Every year, a "Song Fairy" is selected to sing the "Melody of Happiness" which keeps balance in Major Land and ensures peace and happiness. This is a very big honor. Hummy is chosen this year!
• Bad guys claiming to be from Minor Land show up (including (former?!) bestie) and try to rearrange all the notes of the score during the Big Important Concert where the Melody of Happiness is supposed to be performed
• The Queen of Major Land sends all the notes to Earth to prevent the bad guys from uing them. Sends Hummy and the Fairy Tones to collect them.
• Magical girls (Precure) happen. Hummy lives with one of them. They all work together to collect the notes for the Legendary Score while stopping the bad guys from trying to do the same.

Anything beyond that is spoiler territory but hit me up if you're curious!
Shipping Preferences: She is but a humble cat, do not make it weird. But friendshipping? Hell yeah.

What your character wants/needs:
• Helping out - Ideally, Hummy would like to go back home, y'know? But as someone who has herself dropped the "hey there stranger, you gotta help me save this totally unrelated world" bomb on someone before, she can't just turn a blind eye to Havenwall's plight. She wants to be as helpful as possible to the residents!
• Music - Music is the cornerstone of Hummy's entire world, both metaphorically and literally. She wants to fill Havenwell and its residents with the joy of music.
• Friends - Perhaps the only thing more important than music! She'd love to have her friends with her here - not being with them bums her out. But she's met lots of great people here so far and looks forward to meeting many more (especially if they love music!)
Seeking: eVERYTHING. Please make friends with this cat, be weirded out by this cat, make music with this cat. Negative CR would be super good and funny too if you can manage to dislike her, lol.

Brief personality: tries to be a Cool Guy, is mostly a huge dork. He can be dry and sarcastic at times, but he's a pretty nice guy overall. He likes kids, loves animals, is overall friendly and helpful, but he can be lazy and he's not afraid to complain about things either. He's also not very princely, which can be a problem, because he is one.
Brief history: tired prince goes on a road trip with his bros to get married. kingdom falls overnight. tired prince evolves into tired king, road trip evolves into revenge and reclaim plot. gods wake up to yell in his direction. evolves into tired chosen one. generally a bad time is had by all. on the plus side: there are chocobos.
Shipping Preferences: he has a girlfriend! he's as surprised as anyone. he's not super public about it but platonic ships only please!

What your character wants/needs: he's had a really rough go lately, thanks to an especially mean canon update and some unfortunate CR losses, but he's on the way up and back to normal these days. still, some kind people would be appreciated. friends! or heck even someone aggressive who can help him regain his old moods and tempers by riling him up, maybe. sparring partners welcome.

Brief personality: Stereotypical heroic personality. She's quiet, kind, dislikes attention, stubborn, opinionated, and all kinds of messed up.
Brief history: Woke up at age 21 without any memories. Had a rough start. Joined the adventurer's guild. Eventually started helping people, slaying gods, destroying castrums, dismantling corrupt theocracies, ending wars, liberating nations, saving worlds, etc. etc. etc.

What your character wants/needs: wants to find a way to go home and take Ardbert back with her with all their memories intact. Needs more friends and things to do aside from daily chores, exercise, bird care, crafts, etc., etc., etc. She's in a bit of a rut and relies too heavily on Ardbert & the small amount of close CR she currently has. Era also needs to let herself properly grieve for the loss of her other love, but that's a WIP lol. ):

Cloud Strife

Appearance: If you have been in anime fandom long enough and you don’t know what the fuck Cloud Strife looks like you’ve been living under a rock but here

Brief personality: On a surface level, Cloud seems like an aloof, badass, standoffish and snarky mercenary who only cares about work and getting paid. Underneath though is a shy and awkward kid who wants acceptance but behaves like a dick because 1. He thinks it makes him look coooooooooooool and 2. It’s a defence mechanism thanks to trauma and self-identity issues he doesn’t want to look into thanx. He is, however, super loyal if he warms up to you and also a massive dork. While his current canon point still has this "I AM A BIG BADASS SOLDIER FEAR MEEEEE!" shit going on, he's slowly dropping the act little by little.

Brief history: Ex-member of elite superhuman squad SOLDIER and employee of world dominating company Shinra except Cloud quit years ago after a traumatic incident and after finding out what fuckers Shinra are. He then became a merc and ended up working for an eco terrorist group and then lots of crazy shit happened.

To avoid Remake and original game spoilers, I will say that Cloud’s history is a little bit more complicated than what I’ve written and there are certain things that aren’t what they seem and people who don’t mind spoilers or have played the games can read his app here.

Shipping Preferences: HAHAHAHA GOOD LUCK AND GODSPEED! I’m open to the idea but he’ll struggle in that area and it’ll take a lot of work because of uh…a mountain of issues.

What your character wants/needs:

- To go home. Not that this is going to happen any time soon.
- FRIENDS. He’s still not going to admit this easily because SOLDIER personality and also a part of him being afraid of getting too close to people because of various things. He has eased a little though and it’s not hard to get him to do fun stuff if you push him a little.
- More mercenary work if he can. It keeps him occupied.
- Since Sephiroth is here he’s going to low-key keep an eye on the guy because of uh….reasons.

Seeking:
- Exploring. More opportunities to get into plot, figure out what is going on, etc.

- Doing mercenary work. He can even be persuaded to do minor stuff like looking for your lost dog for a petty reward (although he might complain about it in the meantime).

- Friends! People who can get him out of his shell a little! Also enemies and frenemies, people to banter with. And people who will troll the shit out of him because it’s surprisingly easy. He might even try to troll back if he sees an opportunity.

- Opportunities for him to get into ridiculous and comical situations because he’s actually very good at getting into them.

What your character wants/needs: He's pretty happy and comfortable, but one can't go wrong with more friends.

Brief Intro: Hello! I’m the geeky librarian feeding all of today’s children and teenagers the manga, light novels, video games, etc. we know and love. Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future? You can bet it’s on our shelves! I mostly talk about FFVII, Bleach, Dead by Daylight, FFXV, and RP on Plurk but occasional nerdy stuff can come up too depending on what I’m reading or studying atm. My personal favorite hobby outside of the obvious is language learning. I am moving toward intermediate proficiency in Japanese with goals for Mandarin on the horizon. Sephiroth | Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII | Rawna

Age: Very debatable! Early-mid twenties.

Appearance: Sephiroth is tall and muscular. He wears a long black coat with silver pauldrons which leaves the chest bare save for two black criss-crossing straps. Black pants and boots finish the monochromatic look. Sephiroth has an insane amount of very long, silver hair which is parted in the middle. His bangs hang to either side of his face. Sephiroth’s eyes are green and cat-like and they glow. He has a sword that is longer than he is tall, but he will only materialize this in a fight.
Brief personality: Sephiroth is a confident, analytical and resilient person who is very good at compartmentalizing. He is introverted and intelligent and despite his renowned abilities does not seek the accompanying fame, glory, or attention. For various reasons, including his introversion, fame, lack of a proper upbringing, and baggage, Sephiroth has led somewhat of an isolated existence and therefore isn’t the best at socializing. Sephiroth’s respect is hard to earn, but he is extremely loyal to those that manage it and takes betrayal or perceived betrayal Very Seriously. Sephiroth is good at planning and research and is relentless in pursuit of his goals, when he actually has goals of his own and isn’t just doing what he’s supposed to do. He has amazing willpower and self-certainty as well. Just...don’t upend his view of himself too much or Very Bad things will happen.
Brief history: Is this spoilers at this point?? Supersoldier loses his mind after finding out about his “mother”/the experiments that created him and goes on to almost destroy the planet and/or kill lots of people several times post-death while declaring himself a god. Before that, was a hero with a couple of friends who kinda sorta abandoned him along with the company they all worked for because of their own issues. Bringing the hero version to Hugs!
Shipping Preferences: Open to any M/F with chemistry. This will take...a long time to properly develop ngl.

What your character wants/needs: Sephiroth is fresh from a series of shocks to his system (read: losing two out of three friends and becoming disillusioned with the company to which he dedicated his whole life) and pretty much wants to be left alone and/or to get back home by whatever means necessary. However, what he needs is an idiot like Zack to drag him out of this is friends. Extraverted people who can drag him out of his shell.

Seeking:
BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIPS! I would love to link up with other current/future villains (my personal fave), people who can spar effectively with him (careful if you end up his rival he may never leave you alone <3), smol beans for him to protect, and just anyone who can get past his defenses.

PLOT THINGS! Because Sephiroth wants outta here he’s actively investigating anything he can and would love to get into the thick of it.

Appearance: He looks like a serious scientist version of Prompto.
Brief personality: Mad scientist. But still has some humanity for now.
Brief history: Born in Niflheim, he worked his way up the ranks and is currently Research Chief. He figured out how to mass clone meat, had the god Ifrit put in his freezer, and might have found hundreds of thousands of daemons hiding inside of a trenchcoat and fedora.
Shipping Preferences: I'm pretty open. I lean M/M, Verstael leans towards intelligence. I have no problem playing out anything sexual, but he's not an inherently sensual person like that.

What your character wants/needs: Money, information, lab equipment, allies, a good bottle of wine.

Seeking: I'd actually like to have him work on his human side. He's not completely walled off from other people, but he tends to understand standard human interactions in terms of benefits and costs.
I'd like him to grow to appreciate more people beyond how useful they are. And maybe make a another friend.

Brief history: Watched his parents get murdered when he was six and grew up not knowing who/what he was. What your character wants/needs: ALL of the Social Links, please! Like I said, he's a typical Persona protagonist, so hand holding and hugs are always a go! He's not shy about that at all. He's good at listening to anyone's grievances in companionable silence and doesn't mind being dragged around places either.

Brief personality: Sasuke's a kind-hearted, traumatized guy hidden behind a mask of seeming uninterested/uncaring, teasing, money focused, and/or being a proper ninja. He has a soft spot for kids and animals.

Brief history: A lot of people have died in likely two different points in his life when he was a child, leaving him the lone "monkey" with a blood stained face. He's a ninja with huge survivors guilt and fiercely loyal to Yukimura, who he considers his light and would die for. Things aren't going well for the Takeda Army, so that's even more stress on Sasuke. If you want to know more, here is his application.

Characters are also free to recognize him/his name being the same as the famous Sengoku ninja.

Brief personality: This is what we call a boy-shaped brick of depression. Shinji is a well-meaning and generally polite and quiet kid, who does his best to help out those he comes across and/or stay out of the way (typically the latter tbh). He's also ridiculously sad and incredibly practiced at keeping that under wraps! Blue and anxious! A doormat of a boy! But treat him well and he'll wring himself dry trying to be useful. Maybe he'll even cook for you. Who knows.
Brief history: After losing his mom and being abandoned by his dad, Shinji spends a good portion of his life doing nothing significant until he's called upon by said dad to risk his life time and time again fighting giant space(???) monsters in a super fighting robot of his very own. Amazingly, things just get worse from there!
Shipping Preferences: He's got, what you might call, a heavy emoional investment in someone at the moment. Don't tell anyone, though, it's a secret.

What your character wants/needs: Right now he's kind of taken to gardening, so if there's anyone out there who might stop by the community garden in the Marshes often, he'd be open to any tips and advice! Brief history: In Paper Mario Peach is a lot more proactive, helping Mario mostly by giving him info about enemies actions and the whereabouts of important items and such. She's still kidnapped a lot though.

Brief personality: Your typical Weekly Shounen Jump protagonist: a reckless boy with a heart of gold just doing his best to save lives! A happy ball of sunshine! Also a huge dog! The cliche kind who's like you exchange names? You have become friends with Yuuji. Yuuji will now die for you.
Brief history: Despite his best intentions, Yuuji gets himself into trouble by eating a finger, which his now-classmate Fushiguro and now-teacher Gojou help him out of. Ever since, he becomes the 'vessel' of the King of Curses, while ironically busy fighting off cursed spirits.

Shipping Preferences: Whatever goes! I don't plan when it comes to ships. The chemical reacts? Off we go. Might be a bit... rough, though.

What your character wants/needs: He still wants to go home, but he's also gotten pretty well-adjusted here and is considerably more cooperative in terms of doing touches and stuff to 'help restore the world' (still feeling the guilt for getting money from it though... and still resenting the gods haha). He always needs more people around him, so be it positive, negative, or in-between, any kinds of CRs are so very welcome!

Seeking: More CR and any kinds of shenanigans. As much of a gag manga character Yuuji can seem to be, he's actually from a canon where everything happens So Much so surprise, heart-to-heart/serious talks can happen too with this dog!
