Welcome to Hugtopia! We're so happy to have you all here. We know it can be stressful, starting in a game (or adding a character!) so in an effort to help, we bring you an Intro CR Meme!

We'll be posting this meme each application cycle for all players to meet and plot together, so please be sure to keep an eye out and help each other feel welcome. And be sure to check back often; someone may have a fun new idea in the middle of the night that you might not want to miss out on!

It is recommended that new players or new characters include (NEW) in your subject line, so other players know to welcome you! You can also leave a comment to the NEW top-level mod thread with a link to your own top-level, so people can easily find you.

Brief Intro: Hello! I’m the geeky librarian feeding all of today’s children and teenagers the manga, light novels, video games, etc. we know and love. Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future? You can bet it’s on our shelves! I mostly talk about FFVII, Bleach, Dead by Daylight, FFXV, and RP on Plurk but occasional nerdy stuff can come up too depending on what I’m reading or studying atm. My personal favorite hobby outside of the obvious is language learning. I am moving toward intermediate proficiency in Japanese with goals for Mandarin on the horizon. This is my first game in a few years and I’d love to have you at

Character Name: Sephiroth
Canon: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Age: Very debatable! Early-mid twenties.

Appearance: Sephiroth is tall and muscular. He wears a long black coat with silver pauldrons which leaves the chest bare save for two black criss-crossing straps. Black pants and boots finish the monochromatic look. Sephiroth has an insane amount of very long, silver hair which is parted in the middle. His bangs hang to either side of his face. Sephiroth’s eyes are green and cat-like and they glow. He has a sword that is longer than he is tall, but he will only materialize this in a fight.
Brief personality: Sephiroth is a confident, analytical and resilient person who is very good at compartmentalizing. He is introverted and intelligent and despite his renowned abilities does not seek the accompanying fame, glory, or attention. For various reasons, including his introversion, fame, lack of a proper upbringing, and baggage, Sephiroth has led somewhat of an isolated existence and therefore isn’t the best at socializing. Sephiroth’s respect is hard to earn, but he is extremely loyal to those that manage it and takes betrayal or perceived betrayal Very Seriously. Sephiroth is good at planning and research and is relentless in pursuit of his goals, when he actually has goals of his own and isn’t just doing what he’s supposed to do. He has amazing willpower and self-certainty as well. Just...don’t upend his view of himself too much or Very Bad things will happen.
Brief history: Is this spoilers at this point?? Supersoldier loses his mind after finding out about his “mother”/the experiments that created him and goes on to almost destroy the planet and/or kill lots of people several times post-death while declaring himself a god. Before that, was a hero with a couple of friends who kinda sorta abandoned him along with the company they all worked for because of their own issues. Bringing the hero version to Hugs!
Shipping Preferences: Open to any M/F with chemistry. This will take...a long time to properly develop ngl.

What your character wants/needs: Sephiroth is fresh from a series of shocks to his system (read: losing two out of three friends and becoming disillusioned with the company to which he dedicated his whole life) and pretty much wants to be left alone and/or to get back home by whatever means necessary. However, what he needs ~~is an idiot like Zack to drag him out of this~~ is friends. Extraverted people who can drag him out of his shell.

Seeking:
BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIPS! I would love to link up with other current/future villains (my personal fave), people who can spar effectively with him (careful if you end up his rival he may never leave you alone <3), smol beans for him to protect, and just anyone who can get past his defenses.

PLOT THINGS! Because Sephiroth wants outta here he’s actively investigating anything he can and would love to get into the thick of it.

SHIPS! I’m open to the idea of slowly building something wonderful.

Maybe he'll even be able to get Sephiroth to appreciate his odd circumstances if they discuss it. He's definitely allowing Sephiroth to loiter about his place as much as he wants, so I'm sure they'll see each other plenty.

I would love for them to be allies! Can say we established in our thread that Verstael is different in a few ways from the people at ShinRa and thus has Sephiroth's interest and he 10/10 appreciates the library and concrete plans for leaving the city.

They should discuss things further and see what happens since...ironically Sephiroth feels comfortable in this familiar setting that he would ordinarily not prefer, so he'll be around a lot.

What's not to feel comfortable about in a mad scientist's lab?

He, at least, though, can be reasoned with and doesn't spend time talking down to people so much. I'd be happy to have more threads about stuff for a not!friendship.

He'll probably ask questions about things like glowing eyes and materia.

Yes, Verstael's been about a thousand percent more helpful than Hojo in Sephiroth's brief time knowing him. I imagine Hojo coming up like "here's your injection, okay bye" and Sephiroth just having to take it. Whereas Verstael stands a chance of winning his respect. A beautiful not!friendship between two people learning how to properly human?

I am just waiting for mako to come up lol Verstael may have to be tricky getting those other trade secrets.

He wants all the secrets. He shall keep poking until he gets them.

Also, he will suggest touching. Because why not earn money while getting stuff done? It's just practical.

It's sad but the clinical, practical kind of touching is the touching he's used to so yes, can do.

I think you mean the needs-to-practice-more-in-front-of-a-mirror smile.

Not just them, but Cloud too. Really, the whole game could use a Zack. See this face? This face needs a Zack.

Hmm, I'm not sure what I have to offer besides a similarly introverted sort of person who would likely leave well enough alone for similar reasons, but, for a quick laugh,

to entertain the first thought I had when I saw his hair was, "gee, in the right sort of lighting, from behind, that would probably be a double take for her son if they didn't encounter one another in passing otherwise" (obviously not from the front at all.)

Though I think after that sort of awkwardness they'd be more likely to try and avoid each other, oops.

Thank you very much! I am so glad you stopped by because I was going to comment on your post. I've never watched Voltron but your character immediately intrigued me and I would love to have cr with her!

And I about spit out my drink because of Sephiroth's mother issues so that was A+ lmao. He thinks he's an orphan right now so those wouldn't come up but that's amazing.

I figured those sorts of details wouldn't come up at all given how personal it would be (on both sides! So many painful issues) but I couldn't resist. I'm glad you found it amusing as well even without context |D

Her work at the cat cafe aside, she is pretty knowledgeable about the current situation, since she's been here a little over a year and has involved herself in research.

It was too perfect and I thank you ;D I have a hard time resisting things myself if you saw Sephiroth's prompt with, you know, him surrounded by fire.

That could be an excellent way for them to meet or engage! Plans for Sephiroth are for him to finish reading the entirety of Verstael's library and then go explore the new areas. He will seek out any information he can as well so if she has some of that going on it could be a thing.

That's true, I did see that |D it's always good to be flexible with fun!

And that sounds like a good idea, she does poke about the more recently revealed areas at times (and might even have her small scouting robot hovering around to gather data) so it shouldn't be too hard to find an opening.
