Welcome to Hugtopia! We're so happy to have you all here. We know it can be stressful, starting in a game (or adding a character!) so in an effort to help, we bring you an Intro CR Meme!

We'll be posting this meme each application cycle so please be sure to keep an eye out and help each other feel welcome. And be sure to check back often, someone may have a fun new idea in the middle of the night that you might not want to miss out on!

Brief history: Aqua was raised by her Keyblade Master, Eraqus, as one of his apprentices alongside Terra and later Ventus. As Keyblade Wielders, they were taught to protect the order of the Worlds and protect the people there. Especially the Princesses of Heart. Aqua was dedicated to this task, and remains dedicated to this task, even if her loyalty to her friends overrides that duty in her of Heart.

Brief personality: I'm not currently feeling well, so you guys get tidbits of my app -- Goro is absolutely a Gemini. By nature, Gemini are expressive and quick-witted - they represent two different personalities that are combined as one. That's why, with Goro, you can never be sure which side you'll be getting, in some situations.

While he can be a social butterfly with great communication skills, who's ready for fun? He can also get super serious and trapped in his own past. And, whenever stuck with too little to do, he'll get restless and anxious. In canon, he's been shown to get nervous very easily.

His need for being useful and wanted is still everything to him, so being summoned to this world is possibly the best thing that's happened to him in years. So, while he's incredibly depressed, due to the canonpoint he was pulled from, there's potential for him to grow and develop past that. Besides, he's too stubborn to allow the dark emotions to be seen by anyone he doesn't trust, so he'll be putting on one seriously brave face to new CR, rather than allowing them to see just how disheartened and lost he initially feels, coming in.
Brief history: Honestly, just. /gestures at the "Anything else?" part of this. He doesn't have a very happy story, but I don't mind going into it on plurk, if anyone wants to learn more!

What your character wants/needs: HUGS... lol. He's absolutely touch-starved, tbf. Of course, that's not to say it'll be easy to get him snuggling up to anyone. He'll barely be accepting hugs from Akira, right now. :'>

Seeking: I really want him to have some positive CR. He needs people who'll smack him upside the head (figuratively or literally) whenever he's being reckless and/or generally dumb over things. But, also, it'd be super easy to get some bristly CR with him - so, if you're looking for that, I'm game! Frankly, just give me all the things and I'll be happy.

I mostly ramble about the kids, braille and other random things outside of RP. When I'm out with the kids I sometimes end up using the iPad to post, so forgive me if sometimes it looks like autocorrect got me. Looking forward to playing with everyone!

Appearance: He looks like Prompto but evil
Brief personality: Mad scientist with his eyes on godliness
Brief history: He grew up in the Empire, cloned meat, cloned himself a million times, turned them into daemons and then turned himself into a daemon worm.
But really I'm taking him from a point where he hasn't started cloning himself or experimenting on humans yet. He's a zealous scientist who cares about his country and is working on a way to create a robotic army so that humans don't have to go into battle. He's studying a plague that has been increasingly contaminating his country, and he's released Ardyn from imprisonment. All of these things will eventually end badly.
Shipping Preferences: Verstael would be difficult to ship because he's so intently focused on his work.
He would, however, be tolerant of people, and he could grow close to others who showed an interest in the sciences. He would not be condescending towards characters who have grown up in a place where science isn't as advanced, so long as they show an interest in knowledge.

What your character wants/needs: A lab.
Verstael doesn't show affection in a typical way, so many of his interactions will be based on learning. He will share things that he's learned as well.

Seeking: I'm open-minded to seeing how things roll.
I lean towards m/m, but Verstael would very much be interested in other scientists in general, or any other characters who are invested in studies, so I'm not going to limit him to anything specific. He could potentially fall for a potato if it was clever enough.

Anything else? Verstael will actively be trying to learn about everyone from other planets. It does make CR simple, because he wants to ask about everything. However, due to his nature I have an Permissions / Opt out post.
We never really see Verstael lashing out at others. He interacts in a cordial manner, but he's definitely assertive and blunt. It wouldn't be hard for him to come off as a mad scientist, but there's also potential there for him to get along with people because he isn't particularly trying to do harm. On the contrary, he'll likely be attempting to improve things, even if he has his own motives for it.
I'll have various methods that he'll use to seek out data ready ASAP when the game starts, once I get permissions and see how everything goes. The easy answer to any CR, though, is "Yes, he does want to know all about you". If you're not a human he wants to know about you even more.

Appearance: An almost carbon copy of the first Robin, Dick Grayson, Jason is a black haired, blue eyed boy. Unlike Dick however, Jason is built for power, not speed. He's young, but it's very apparent that when he's done growing he will be as powerfully built as Bruce Wayne himself. Something that is new about his appearance that is still very startling for him is the shock of pure white hair that starts at the hairline and encompasses a baseball sized clump of his hair.

Brief personality: Jason is, for lack of a better term, a little prick. He smokes, he swears, he's about as soft and cuddly as a cocklebur. That being said, he's a well meaning little prick. He can't stand seeing people be taken advantage of or hurt, and he will go out of his way to beat the snot out of the person he considers the bad guy. Not really to protect the victim, but just because he can't stand asshats.

Brief history: Orphan, adopted (except not really), trained, Robin, rebellious jerk, big fight, WHACK. In that order.

Shipping Preferences: Honestly? He doesn't have a preference. Not yet. His training has taken up so much of his life that dating hasn't even entered the equation yet.

What your character wants/needs: What he wants: To be left the fuck alone. What he needs: Someone to hug him and tell him he's a good boy.

Seeking: I'd love to see him find a father figure that isn't working for a known criminal or a clinical level recluse with bat issues.

Brief personality: Magolor comes off very cute and helpful and friendly, but he is actually kind of a bag of dicks! He's not as bad as he used to be, in that he's not going to surprise try and kill anyone for personal gain, but he's still a huge faker who is deeply self-absorbed and egotistical and approaches every situation with the agenda of how he can most benefit from it. He loves power, money, and attention! . . . But, deep down, he does actually just want people to feel affection for him and desire his company, even if he's also really bad at handling it when he gets it.
Brief history: Not-so-local alien zooms into canon from a hellish dimension, backstabs all of his friends in the 11th hour so he can seize control of the universe, gets his ass handed to him, and "reforms" into just another socially awkward self-centered jerk with a talent for capitalism.

What your character wants/needs: Despite the way he is, Magolor is easy to get CR with, because he will actively look for an angle to use anyone he talks to—but these days his manipulations tend to be on the very harmless side. He's just not good at turning himself off, so to speak. Still, if you don't like playing with characters who are kinda Like That, by all means opt out of threading with me no questions asked, I'm not offended! That said, he is also perfectly able to deal with people who can see through him and not take his bullshit, and will cave somewhat into being more of his true self there. This is starting to run into the next question, so . . .

Seeking: See above for some of it! But as a player, I'm extremely open to everything and just excited to play! I am up for both people Magolor can con (especially since his conning will be pretty limited to mostly . . . hugs stuff . . . and maybe business ventures once he gets there) and people he can't. Brief personality: Usually pretty distant at first, doesn't usually go out of his way to invite himself to things. He's not used to good intentions! If you get to the point where he'll consider you a friend, he will immediately throw himself into harm's way for you at the drop of a hat that is just how he is. Sorry for this reckless behavior. He'll warm up to folks eventually, probably. Consider: wary shelter dog that just needs a house and patient pets.
Brief history: His dad was a criminal (MAYBE?) so he didn't really have any good friends (JUST ONE, WHO LEFT HIM BEHIND), only ""friends"". Got beat up a lot sticking up for his ""friends"". Went to save that one good friend after 9 years of silence, no questions asked, cuz uh that friend died and found out he was immortal wow. But then he got left behind again after getting roughed up a lot and arrested for being an accomplice in his friend's escape! Yay! He might be pre-occupied with that sometimes!
Shipping Preferences: We'll get to this someday, lads, but not today.
What your character wants/needs: HE NEEDS A BIG LONG HUG OR EXTENDED HAND HOLD. Someday. The only real human touch this boy has had thus far is punches to his face and maybe a ride on a bike here and there. First he needs to actually get comfortable with the concept of Actual Friendship that doesn't immediately call for his own bodily harm. That'd be great.

Brief personality: So responsible and duty bound there's not much room left for the man he might have been. He's a strategist and military leader and is trained to give nothing away. On the rare occasions when he lets his guard down a little he's actually a sassy little shit with a bit of a temper.
Brief history: Oh no that's so complicated. Let's just say he's been assigned to protect 3 kings and outlived 2 and the other is destined to die so he's carrying a lot of survivor's guilt.
Shipping Preferences: Let this man feel love. Look he's a mess. Odds are he's not likely to trust anyone enough for that for a long time but you're free to try. (Except Regis, he loves his King.)

Brief personality: TL;DR: Will is an extra AF, theatrical, goofy dumbass. So basically just a cat. He's bubbly, affectionate, melodramatic, curious to a fault, a bit of a troll, and would by far rather not take anything seriously if he can help it. He's very much a people person, all too happy to latch onto less spirited and extraverted characters to drag them along in the wake of his shenanigans--possibly literally, if draping or flopping on someone doesn't get him launched across the room.
Brief history: Abducted as a child to be raised as a masked, thoroughly indoctrinated and manipulated minion in Team Rocket, Will grew up as Doing A Crime and just generally being kind of an awful person. Once he escaped, he traveled the world to train and lay low for a while, until his battle prowess grew to the point that he was accepted into Johto's Elite Four. Now he's enjoying the security and prestige of such an influential position while he tries to stay on the Straight and Narrow, and just generally figuring out what a normal life even is. (Do you eat it?)
Shipping Preferences: Give me all the shipping, TBH. Including friendshipping and familyshipping. I'll take all comers, gender and whatnot irrelevant.

What your character wants/needs: Lots of friends, lots of fluff, and lots of SOL shenanigans? He doesn't mind saving the world with the power of cuddles, honestly--he'd be willing to take the citizens at their word and do his best to start connecting with people and seeing what life here is like.

Seeking: Gen, shipping, exploring, I'm looking forward to it all. Having someone who'll be very agreeable with the NPCs and not desperate to escape a jamjar will be nice, TBH. Also learning that people with powers aren't Weird would be nice? It's rare enough in Pokémon that there's probably some unease surrounding people like psychics. Appearance: They're shaped like a friend who's shaped like a bard.
Brief personality: A silly dope with a heart of gold, always puts others before themselves to an extreme fault, doesn't like letting others know when they're sad.
Brief history: They and their friend Miriam were on a quest to save their world by collecting musical macguffins, but that's proving difficult because the world is supposed to end at the hands of a destined Hero. Spoiler alert: Kiwi is not that hero, and they don't want the world to end. They don't even have a destiny. It's fine, don't worry about it.
Shipping Preferences: I'm open to the idea, but it'd be a slow burn and any potential partners would have to make the first move.

So...yeah they could really use LOTS of hugs and comfort. Maybe something to do to keep themselves occupied. And probably someone to keep an eye on them and make sure they don't burn themselves out trying to help everyone else.

He's kind of childish and all of his knowledge about humans comes from Back to the Future. So don't expect a lot from him. He tries his best though and is a certified good boy.
Brief history: He got stuck in a hole for like six million years and missed the Autobot vs Decepticon war. Once he was found he went on a lot of wacky adventures through space, almost died twice, saved the universe twice, and got himself a boyfriend.
Shipping Preferences: He's a robot, so unless you are Cyclonus... It's a no go.

What your character wants/needs: He probably needs to learn a bit about humans. But Tailgate will totally want to make friends.

She loves to have a good time, provided nothing too serious is going on, and she's not the most cuddly person ever, but given enough time and exposure she might just come around. She's nice (generally) to those who are nice to her and she can be very genuine when she cares, but don't be surprised if she teases you anyway. It's just her way.

Brief history: Lup is one-half of a set of twins, a D&D wizard (evocation), has spent half her life traveling from world to world running away from an apocalypse, and the last decade locked away in a magical artifact unable to feel anything or communicate with the outside world. Things have been sucky! But she's doing her best.

Shipping Preferences: Platonic is best for this girl, she's in a committed relationship! but she has no gender constraints.

What your character wants/needs: Probably therapy tbh but she'll certainly be looking for fun. Dragging her issues to the surface takes work, because she can be evasive as heck. Sorry in advance for the headache!

Lup loves to make mischief, so I'm all for positive CR, negative CR, whatevs. She's coming from ~10 months of CRAU at Drift Fleet, so she's used to being around people again, but she can still be a little touch-starved due to being trapped and incorporeal for a decade, so that might be a whole... thing. To deal with.

Brief personality: Perhaps a little too kind and loving for one who is carrying the weight that comes with the Lucian crown, Regis will eventually become a wise, tempered, and grounded king. Right now, there is still a fair bit of the dreamer and adventurer left in him. That may or may not be why he has such a talent for getting into trouble. I'm sure things will be fine, though. It's not like there are any of his country's enemies here or anything!
Brief history: Has been on the throne for five years and married for two. He just lost a battle with a mad man (coughArdyncough) at his canon point and so has no idea if he or his country survived the attack. Oops!
Shipping Preferences: Friendships only at the moment, please! At this canon point, he is very happily married to his childhood sweetheart.

Eventually he found his way to the Karasuno volleyball team, where he played volleyball. It's just as he began to love volleyball that he was snatched away from it and taken onto a murderplane, yay! The high-stress stituation caused him to do a murder. Then he got taken to ANOTHER game where he was killed almost instantly, and without powers he couldn't do squat! Kei's had a Bad Time.

Appearance: (ref) She's an Altean, which pretty much means Space Elf. She's got long white hair, golden eyes with purple pupils, pointed ears, and rather defining red markings on her face. She has a very slender frame, with poor slouchy posture and usually seems smaller than her 5'5/5'6. Notably, unlike her icons, she dresses in outfits containing white, blue or greens.
Brief personality: A quiet observer, she often tends to be very wary of others, unless they've become significant to her, in which case she's loyal to them. She tends to be more serious than not (but when she isn't, no one sees her deadpan coming). She's highly intelligent and pretty dangerous, given her dark history, but mostly she comes off as being a grumpy cat.

Brief history: Evil space witch realizes that she had lost her memory and had been a different person and was desperate to have her life and family back. Along with about a year and change of CRAU from Drift Fleet, which significantly affected her and the choices she's made since, thanks to having a break from the constant war and the environment it fostered, and having people to talk to during important times. As a certain elf put it, she's "trying to be a person" now. It's hard. Please note, she is obviously not aware of the fate of her son in their universe and that is best avoided.

Shipping Preferences: LAUGHS... I mean when the consequences of being super married results in this hideous tragedy of tragedies that sort of thing isn't on her radar at all, she's just lonely and sad.

What your character wants/needs: What she wants is to be a mom to her kid, but that's not exactly happening, so what she needs to do is keep following her development in trying to be people. Her plans need work. She's still learning to appreciate the simpler aspects of life that she had straight up forgotten about, so there's that too. Learning to give instead of take away is another matter, but she's. Trying.

Brief history: He's a D&D transmutation wizard that once was a pretty famous celebrity chef. Appearance: World's tamest character design somehow mecha show protagonist. Shinji clocks in at a shrimpy 4'9".
Brief personality: Sad boy who gets in the robot. Shinji is a gentle but ultimately affection-skittish person, equipped with all sorts of fun things like completely untreated depression and ptsd. It's fine. He's Fine. He is, for the most part, a polite and well-meaning person who tries to keep himself out of the way whenever possible, and frequently has a very hard time making meaningful connections with those around him.
Brief history: After losing his mom and being abandoned by his dad, Shinji spends a good portion of his life doing nothing significant until he's called upon by said dad to risk his life time and time again fighting giant space(???) monsters in a super fighting robot of his very own. Amazingly, things just get worse from there! Eventually he makes friends, then he nearly kills friends, and he definitely kills one friend. Things turn weird and humanity turns into soup. Normal mecha show stuff.
Shipping Preferences: Shinji is shy bi and ready to cry but we are a far way off from shipping so fresh out of the gate, so we'll see how relevant this information becomes later. I'm all for friendshipping and famblyshipping though.

What your character wants/needs: What he wants is for people to just be nice to him already, goddamn. What he probably needs and doesn't necessarily want is sustained physical contact with another human being... please give this kid a hug, I'm sure it won't be awkward for anyone involved.

He's a little smarter than you'd think, but most of the time he comes across a clumsy, dim, well-meaning dude. It's hard to get him mad, and super easy to get him to smile.
Brief history: He grew up as an orphan, tricked into becoming a "knight" and pretty much has been defending the Disney Kingdom since then. Then some dude decided "hey let's see what happens if we remade a horrible war" and so stars went out and worlds got taken over by darkness. So he got sent off with his best pal Donald to find the boy with a Keyblade and save the worlds from darkness. Cue a dozen+ games of making stuff up as they went along.
