Welcome to Hugtopia! We're so happy to have you all here. We know it can be stressful, starting in a game (or adding a character!) so in an effort to help, we bring you an Intro CR Meme!

We'll be posting this meme each application cycle for all players to meet and plot together, so please be sure to keep an eye out and help each other feel welcome. And be sure to check back often; someone may have a fun new idea in the middle of the night that you might not want to miss out on!

It is recommended that new players or new characters include (NEW) in your subject line, so other players know to welcome you! You can also leave a comment to the NEW top-level mod thread with a link to your own top-level, so people can easily find you.

Taako ★ The Adventure Zone: Balance

Character Name: Taako
Canon: The Adventure Zone: Balance (podcast version!)
Age: Looks in his 20s, is more like 250~300 years old

Appearance: He thinks he's hot af, and will occasionally put a glamour on to have hair highlights to match or complement his sister, Lup. Normally though, his hair is just blond and braided or tied back.
Brief personality: He's a bit more jaded than his twin sister and while they're both a little difficult to get to know, Taako is the more cautious and pragmatic of the pair. He's got more barbs to him after over a decade of being alone and after a century of making transient connections to all but 6 other people, he's still getting used to the idea that people are permanent and worth getting to know again. That said, he's friendly enough and shows he cares through his food, of which there is a lot and it's delicious. He shows friendship by teasing mercilessly, but also is 100% willing to throw down when it counts and save people even if he grumbles about it.
Brief history: Taako is the other half of the D&D elf twins (conjuration) and also travelled from world to world to stop the world-consuming embodiment of ennui. He, however, had his memory erased for over 10 years, forgot he had a sister, and became a shell of his former self - something that he's gotten over thanks to some CRAU (Drift Fleet) shenanigans, but with which he's still quietly dealing with.
Shipping Preferences: He's gay af and DTF, even though he's actually pretty hard to get to know. He's more of a one and done kind of guy due to his past, but once he catches feelings, he falls quick and hard.

What your character wants/needs: People to put up with him, people to pay him for food because he's one of the main chefs at Affurgato! He needs friends because he has a tendency to just get by with flimsy connections and pretend like he's okay when he's really, really not.

Seeking: All sorts of new CR - positive or negative - especially flirting buddies whether they want it to go somewhere or not. He misses the back and forth banter with people, and he's always down to go on an adventure and kill monsters even if he pretends he'd dip out at the first sign of danger.

I'm thinking about setting up an Affurgato mingle. Also, it's technically around their self-appointed birthday, so it seems on point for them to draw attention to themselves (even without saying "this is birthday") and get some money out of their neighbours. What say you?

YES make people pay them to celebrate their birthday lmfao. Maybe he'll make an Every Flavor Layer Cake for the occasion. And turkey, natch. Gotta have turkey.

Also for menu things, he might add a few BBQ options for summer specials things like: slow cooked BBQ pork sliders, grilled pineapple and watermelon slices, warm peach cobbler with ice cream, and sweet potato fries with honey butter dip. Limited time offer for the summer months (July and August only), slightly more premium prices.

HELLO KAZE I'm Tsubo!! I've been seeing Taako around and he's been such a delight to watch! Him burning Megumi is giving me so much glee lmao.

I'd love for Yuuji here to have a CR with him!! As much as I'd love for Yuuji to hang around at Affurgato he's pretty broke atm with him just arriving hence, stares sadly at the mingle log... he's always considered cafes like that to be a luxury so he might not go out of his way to, but, they can probably eventually see each other anywhere else! If Affurgato's ever looking for more staff or something, he'll be happy to do anything - he can cook basic stuff and can improve, can do customer service, also good at heavy lifting (if that's ever something necessary...) LOL

But I'm glad you're enjoying watching Taako be a total ass to Yuuji's friend XD He means well, I swear. But as Sapph said below, feel free to toss into the mingle! Especially if he wants to work as staff or something to earn some extra cash/dora. Taako hates doing dishes and they can always have more people around to help with customer service and such.

Where in Japan are you located btw? I'm in Osaka. It's so humid here, I am dying send halp.

Hehe Yuuji mostly assumes the best in people, he won't bat an eyelash unless it's something hurtful, which Taako isn't doing!! Oh perfect - I shall throw him to Lup and Taako soon then, I'd love him to befriend the twin as well!! And yes, he'd like to work!! He'll do anything - that'll make him feel better than getting paid for touches, haha!

Omg haha have you returned to normal life or still wfh? I'm in Tokyo (ok more like Kanagawa) and it's actually been rather chilly the times I leave the house! Mostly just been at home though. SENDS SOME OF THE COOL BREEZE YOUR WAY!!!

OH M GOD, so when i said late, i meant late holy shit. HI.

I'd love to keep up the CR - sorry that i'm scattered to the thousand different corners of the planet, I'm currently at Dawn of the Last Day with regards to having a baby, so my energy and ability to sit at a PC is a total crapshoot HOOBOY. But yes! Toss your boy at our sibs and we'll possibly ruin his life, but in a good way. I promise.

I'm wfh, but on maternity and about to pop a human out of me GOOD LORD so it's been kind of chill for me. Fingers crossed you're still being safe up there. The Kanto region (and tbf, Osaka too) went kind of whole hog on the second wave business ugh
