May 2020 Hugtopia OOC & CR Meme

Welcome to Hugtopia! We're so happy to have you all here. We know it can be stressful, starting in a game (or adding a character!) so in an effort to help, we bring you an Intro CR Meme!

We'll be posting this meme each application cycle for all players to meet and plot together, so please be sure to keep an eye out and help each other feel welcome. And be sure to check back often; someone may have a fun new idea in the middle of the night that you might not want to miss out on!

"she'll always focus on you. you are very important to her, but not enough for her to bother to heal you with her own power if you should be dying in front of her because she fears her own power. she'll still call you beautiful tho."

This part of right here sparked a plot idea in my head. It's going to be a bit long since it needs proper build up in order to make it more impactful, but it will come with some delicious negative CR. Touma would be absolutely pissed if there ever was a scenario where she could have saved someone with her powers and didn't. In fact, her telling him she's too afraid of her powers because they might 'destroy the world' would just piss him off even more. Once that happens, he will relentlessly grill her about it and might even pressure her to fight him to 'prove it'. After all, in his mind, if her powers are that scary then surly she can defeat one measly 'Normal High School Student'. And if she can't defeat him, then she has no excuse for being so afraid. Basically, he would want to prove to her that she has no reason to be fearful of her powers and help build her confidence in herself.

Now, in order for this idea to even be possible, three things need to happen:

Touma would have to become more acquainted with her.
Someone needs to almost die because of her inaction.
Sometime after that event, Touma would have to find out she could have prevented it, but choose not to.

So, what do you think of my idea?

I.... ABSOLUTELY WANT HER TO BE DOXXED ON THIS FRONT. the whole "why didn't you save them/help them/do more??" it would make her feel absolutely awful, so yes please.

except thereeee are a couple things that i don't see happening with this plot--

1. pyra definitely wouldn't ever admit to what her powers can do: re destroying the world. even if he grills her or guesses at it on his own, or if he becomes abrasive, she'll keep quiet and let him have his assumptions. she would also not defend herself that what she did (regarding NOT doing more to help others) is indeed a very, very bad thing. she'd nod along all like "yes i am terrible"
2. she wouldn't fight him. she'll take any punches.
3. that being said if someone is injured she WOULD do what she can, like, take them to someone who can heal them. but she herself wouldn't use her own abilities to do so, because it involves unlocking one of those seals.

STILL i do want this, i would absolutely someone to call her out on her shit because in canon no one ever does...

let's just work on step one for them becoming more acquainted, right?

Maybe Touma can divulge a bit on his own past? This one is a bit hard because he isn't someone who talks about his accomplishments or the amount of shit he's suffered through much at all. This is less of a 'gotta keep it a secret' and more of a 'didn't feel a need to mention it' kind of thing. He doesn't think much of himself.

iiii'd say we can start a new thread in may, rather than continuing the old one! and as for his past, if he's willing to talk about it, yeah, she would listen to him. i can't guarantee tho that she'll talk about her own in return (she gets too upset when she chats about her past/world, unfortunately). the biggest problem with her is definitely, like, getting her to talk about herself oof.

Iiit's possible for something to happen to Verstael at some point. He takes risks and just has normal person power.

He'd probably assume no one was coming to save him though and attempt to save himself as long as he was capable.

he also can't work if pyra lets him die but that's not her problem, that's now someone else's to keep him alive oops.

thhhhat being said, she now is #blessed with noctis' power ala crownsguard too, so she'll prolly be able to pull a couple of potions from his armiger to help. so whatever injury he's got will have to be too much for those to help with. C: and then when those aren't enough she can Feel Bad(TM) for not doing more and then carry him to someone who might be able to.

We'll have to figure something out in the future, whenever you guys are ready to do something. It shouldn't be too hard to find a scenario where Verstael could get hurt - we'll just have to see what is happening at the time when everyone is ready.
