❥ PROMPT I: The Havenwell Archives

Lasohm is another month that belongs to Ohma and as such, a small group of citizens decide that it might be great for the offworlders to help with something that might please the feline god. These citizens are marked with a sash with the sign of a quill on it, a decidedly antique symbol considering how technologically advanced the people are. They hand out fliers to any who will take them, offering a small amount of Dora in compensation to any who will help the Havenwell Archives repair and restore their books. The Archives is a large building in the south and its doors, which have been sealed shut until now, are slightly ajar, allowing people entry.

Head to the Archives and you'll be greeted by one of a handful of robotic citizens, all wearing that quill-emblazoned sash, and directed to a small room where you and other offworlders are put to the task of reassembling history texts that have fallen into disrepair. Most of the writing is illegible, but it seems that these books are important to the Archives for more than just the information contained within. As you work, you might notice that talking and sharing information about yourself or engaging in physical contact near these books with the other people in your room makes the text on your pages a little more legible, a little easier to read and understand....

❥ PROMPT II: Chase the Rabbit

Those plagued by the dreams with their strange, indistinct figure will find that they haven't gone away even as the month changes to Lasohm. Not everyone is dreaming about this stranger and they don't come every night, but that might be a small comfort to those who see the figure lurking in their dreams, watching silently. They no longer flit away when you look at them though and instead, start holding their unnaturally long arms out to you. Their outline is like a shadow and it feels like you might fall into their arms if you keep looking at them. It's almost tempting, but the way the figure beckons and approaches without actually moving its legs seems unnatural. Every time you blink, it grows closer and larger and its arms are opened wide for you. You get the distinct feeling that, should you embrace it, it would be like dropping into an endless, dark void, which is when a sense of vertigo seizes you and wakes you up.

The vertigo plagues you even into the waking hours and out of the corner of your eye, you can see that figure from your dreams, arms outstretched and waiting. The only way to rid yourself of this phantom is to let another character hold you tight, in the same way that figure seems to want to do. Letting another character hug you dispels the dreams entirely this time - the phantom figure dissipates, the dreams stop, and it seems like everything is back to normal for you.

Those who accept the phantom's hug, however....? Well. Let's just say they have very different dreams that night.

❥ PROMPT III: Catch the Rabbit

Those who accept the phantom's hug also see it vanish from the daylight and it seems like everything is fine. It's gone, just like everyone else has said, and there's nothing lurking in the shadows anymore. You go to sleep that night and that's when it hits you. That sense of vertigo is awful and the dreams? They're back, but this time, they're a little different.

The White Rabbit: You're not alone in this space. Whether it's by accident or by some bond of fate, someone else is here with you. All around you, the world is empty and pure white, stretching into eternity and blank, like it's waiting for something - and it is. It's waiting for you. Once you recognize one another, the world reforms to take on the appearance of a dream you've had before, or a memory from long ago. The other person in your dream is conscious of this not being real, but you? Well...maybe you're aware and maybe you're not. Whatever the case may be, it seems the dream can end naturally as it's meant to, or your companion can try to wake you up. Because it's not just the two of your in this dream - that long-armed phantom is back and it's getting closer.

The Black Rabbit: The dreams are pitch black. You're floating in the darkness with nothing to tether you, whispers in foreign tongues all around you, words you can't understand. If you linger too long, the whispers grow louder, the sound of claws raking down metal approaching from behind and you know: you need to run. The dream seems to go forever, with you tumbling through the darkness, running on nothing, running to nothing, but definitely running from something. And then suddenly, there's someone with you, also fleeing the unseen horrors. As soon as you see them, the dream shifts and now you're experiencing each other's worst nightmares. Fend the terrors off by working together, holding one another, comforting each other as needed, but don't let them catch you.

Whichever dream you have, it ends when you see a figure suddenly appearing in front of you. The phantom that haunted you in your waking hours is back and you know that it sees you as well. Rather than come after you, however, the figure points to the side causing the walls of Havenwell to appear out of the dark, a bright beacon in the gloom. Then the figure opens a gaping, toothless mouth and wails, a bone deep sadness filling the air until the white walls of Havenwell begin to crumble like dust. You awaken with a jolt, the vision fading but the memories remaining.

❥ PROMPT IV: It Warned You

Toward the end of the month starting from October 28th, offworlders and natives alike will start hearing noises. A deep, quiet scratching, the sound of something dragging heavily against stone, or a leaden thump that seems to reverberate through the floors. Then a slow rhythmic banging starts up and for the first time, the offworlders will see the natives truly scared. They start retreating from the public, sealing themselves up into their homes or taking to the temples to pray. During this time, all other festivities start to close, the VR cafe still boasting bright advertisements for the Harvest Festival games are deserted, the businesses and streets barely have anyone in them. The only activity to be seen is that of the wall guards and the police who start patrolling the streets, trying to locate the source of the noise, stopping anyone they see to interrogate them.

This continues until noon on October 30th when a loud crack, like glass being broken, splits the quiet across the city. Those outside can look up and see a long spider web of breaks snake out along the blue sky. The crack splits and splinters the sky until it hits the wall to the north where it stops for a brief moment, and then the wall itself cracks. The banging intensifies and the plaster flakes, cracks, and with a horrific boom, it breaks and a thick hairy hand the size of a car reaches in, pulling the stone away to widen it into a hole through which a steady stream of small black spider-like creatures start to spill into the city. An alarm rings shrill and the guard and police take to action, but it's clear they're not prepared for this. Help if you can, offworlders, your home is under attack!

What to do: Fight the monsters that are breaking into the city. Most of them are relatively small, black spider-like creatures that have very basic melee attacks, using their fangs and their sharp legs to bite and claw at people. On occasion a rarer monster might appear that will take more than one person to kill - these might resemble strange versions of monsters from your respective worlds, though nothing larger than a horse is present. The giant hand that punched its way through the wall is gone and won't come back. Clear the city of monsters and find a way to seal the breach. This event will ICly run from October 30-31st with the breach being sealed late on the 31st.

Would it be safe to assume the repair/restoration includes actual re-binding, etc., like one would expect with old tomes?

Also the vertigo lasting into the waking hours — does it last however long the player chooses, or does it last until the character hugs another person?

1) Would there be any weapons provided to help fend off the monsters? I would imagine some off-worlders are not armed to fight them

2) Is the black spider's bite poisonous or fatal enough to cause an allergic reaction?

So, for research reasons because I use dice rolls for things like injuries and such, how bad is the damage a spider can cause? Like is it more annoyance then anything until they swarm or could a couple of them cause problems for a normal person that doesn't have God and Anime on their side?

Well I come back from Hiatus at a great time. /gendo ikari pose

Backtagging/Backdating I took the sick option for why Ib was MIA for most of September so if I had thread going with someone and you want to drop it I'm a okay with that. I also am thinking of backdating a log for anything from her being ill at the temple to just being ill in general due to tall man dreams if anyone is interested in that or want me to backtag into last month's stuff.

But on to this month.


White Rabbit So who wants to see some of Ib's canon in full on technicolor horror in her dreams? Because that sure is going to be a thing because she hasn't told anyone about the tall man dreams so she's going to fall into those. Yep. I'm figuring out a few different scenes to pick for this considering there are a lot of fun times in her canon she can have your character run through with her while she thinks it's real and not just dream warped memories.

Spiders Ib is very ???? on this because, yes, running from monsters is good, but!!! where is the puzzle you're supposed to solve to stop them getting in? So Ib is going to YOLO out into that chaos because clearly someone has to find said puzzle and the key to fix the wall while the adults are busy being heroic. It's fine she's got like five hit points that's plenty to figure this out right?

Havenwell Archives: Will will be interested in helping, and trying to read the books, though he has no idea how to do this stuff. Anyone wanna show him how?

Chase the Rabbit: Will has been pretty open about spending the night with anyone who wants him, and he will NOT be accepting Spoopy Slenderman Hugs, so he will probably be rid of his symptoms pretty quick. I'm offering him for anyone who needs hugs!

Catch the Rabbit: Assuming people who don't accept the hug can get pulled in too, I'm offering him for anyone who needs a dream partner.

It Warned You: It's time to battle! Will is completely in his element here, strutting his stuff as a master trainer. Anyone who needs protection, wants to fight with him, or just plain see a whole different side of him is welcome! Bet you didn't know this sweet softy was willing to give the order to kill without hesitation, did you?

He also may need some fussing from established CR, because empath flooded by feelings of creatures dying and in agony for like two days is gonna McFuck Him Up, I'm sure.

I would love Magolor-style fussing where he really fucking sucks at this but does at least kinda care and could use a kick into realizing that!! Maybe an empath would be relieved by his comparative black hole of strong emotion lol. And he makes a good hug shape.

Havenwell Archives: Shinji will be helping out! Something nice and peaceful to do, it's right up his alley. He, for the most part, doesn't really like talking about himself too much, but might be persuaded to share a little bit if they start figuring out that it makes things a little easier.

Chasing/Catching Rabbits: I'm still waffling a little on if Tamaki would succumb to shadowy arms dude but I'm leaning a little more toward 'yes' for Shinji, if only because hell yeah nightmares for everyone. Either way, Tamaki would be totally free for dishing out good hugs for those who need them, and if characters can stumble into dreams regardless of falling into the arms of spooky nightmare hallucinations(?), they'd both be hopping around dreams.

It Warned You: Shinji's gonna have a really bad time through the whole event because WOW this is hitting way too close to home. He ? might ? try and help but will probably be really ineffective. Tamaki is a squishy and mundane boy but would also probably come to anyone's rescue if he spots them in direct trouble.

Archives: there's a reward so he'll do this, and at this point it probably won't take him too long to figure out the contact thing because he's beginning to get the point that contact makes literally everything here go easier. (And makes you money.) He's less likely to test the talking about yourself thing, but I'd be thrilled to engage in that if we want it to come up naturally in the thread, which isn't gonna be hard to do. Let's band together for plot info and easy money, friends! His favorite things!!

Silly Rabbit Trix Are For Kids: tbeh I haven't decided what route to take here yet! I can ICly sway it either way since Magolor is unlikely both to submit to ~the embrace~ but also to seek out someone to hug him IRL, so it's pretty much a coinflip which way I want to lean, and I think either would be fun.

If he rejects ~the embrace~ I would love to have him stumble upon the nightmares of others! LET'S DO THIS. He's not likely to be overtly very affected by them except under very special circumstances, but Magolor Will Remember That, and I would love some of him helping fight off people's nightmares by actually using his rarely-seen combat skills (or affection skills, lol). He does get protective about those he cares about.

If he doesn't, I would go the Black Rabbit path, and since his worst nightmare is being consumed by the Master Crown again, we could unlock the special secret path that would be a horrible final boss fight with this thing (second pic). Or . . . hugging that thing . . . if you want . . . look I'm all for some crazy bastard out there bringing Magolor Soul back to his senses with body horror cuddles, if you are

Anyway I like both of these options and am also up for mix 'n' match if it's possible to like, have Magolor have his own drama and get out of it and then get sucked into other nightmares, which I imagine it would be. Still working out where I wanna go and open to plotting either way!

Kill Six Billion Spiders: As mentioned above, Magolor does have significant combat skills and rarely ever uses them, so I'm looking forward to this, and let us team up to do battle! Just don't accidentally kill his spider roommate and we're all good dohoho

They never said anything about the dreams from last month or noticed anyone talking about them because I suck, so now would be a good time to address it, especially because the whole vertigo thing will no doubt get someone's attention with how they keep trying to avoid their own problems and getting sick. But yeah, they're hugging the phantom, please hug them.

Catch the Rabbit
Strong preference for black on this one; Kiwi's nightmares would consist of their world dying. They don't really know what the end of the world is going to look like, but from their own fears and what they know, it's likely to involve stars going out or falling, swarms of black shapeless monsters, the world fading into black clouds, and lightning storms.

If you wanna go white, their dream could be of home or places they've visited, but I suggest the cutest memory to use could be the spirit realm Moonscape from act 5 of the game; a world made up entirely of a beautiful, clear night sky, full of magical stars that emit an aura of light that makes anyone who stands in them weightless.

It Warned You
Kiwi is pacifist to a fault, so fighting the spiders won't even occur to them, even in the inevitable panic of the town being suddenly swarming with these things. They will, however, defend; they may try to ward the spiders and other monsters off by singing (whether it works is a different story), or sing to create a small shield to protect themselves and anyone nearby.

You can assume Rin will, in fact, hug the rabbit - her fear sense is a bit skewed - she hugged it EARLY probably. If anyone wants to feel themselves being eaten by wolves, I can put up a thread for Black Rabbit later, and I'm also down to do White Rabbit threads. She can't read so won't even bother to attempt the archives, and will spend the fight hiding, in all likelihood. So, Ciel is very likely not going to be helping much with this. He loves books, respects them, desperately misses the little library that he and Undertaker had built up in Riverview, but he's one of the last people who should be asked to help restore them.

Ciel is not armed but OH! He's going to try to help deal with the invasion through the hole in the wall. Even if he ends up just grabbing stones from the ground and throwing them. He's not terribly strong so they won't be large stones but he has good aim.

If he's provided with a weapon though? He's at least decent with swords, having taken fencing lessons since he was ten to thirteen.

While the dreams and vertigo are going to mess with her a bit, she'll still be out and about, helping where she can. And, luckily, she lives with Rin and can get hugs easaly to chase it all away. If you want to be the one to free her from slendercreep, lemme know!

Kai is not participating. Pursuits of knowledge are great but he's not suited for delicate bookwork and his handwriting sucks. VIANCA is living her best life to the fullest. She's extremely excited and you can tell cuz she nodded her head like five whole times instead of just one when asked. She would be down for talking about library stories or being a convenient touch fixture. She also wants to read literally everything in here so s h a r e p l e a s e.

CHASE THE RABBIT
Uh both of them probably succumbed to spoopy hugs pretty quick. Vianca probably during the day in a vertigo-induced fright or flight episode. Kai never got the first bout of vertigo. The spoopman never scared him and the combo of no-self preservation or worth means he probably welcomed that hug first night. Oops.

Since it probably happens so fast this might just segue right into

CATCH THE RABBIT
Vianca gets the White Rabbit. Broad expanses of white are great, she's a big fan of reminiscing alone in the snow. Dreams probably consist of a lot of trying to find someone, but they're gone. Also available are memories of why it is important to be quiet and other real fun topics! Yay! She might be a bit aware that this isn't actually happening, since she normally does not dream in images and would maaaybe remember that she was not Pink when this happened.

Kai gets the Black Rabbit, because boy he's also a big fan of reminiscing alone in wide black expanses while running away from his problems. His probably features a highway and he might possibly be on a nightmare bike so he's here for hitchhikers. His dreams aren't the most High Octane Nightmares on the block, but they do heavily feature self-harm of another person and ambiguous amounts of maybe murder so that's not always everyone's cup of tea.

He will totally hug and/or jumpkick your nightmares though.


IT WARNED YOU
Speaking of jumpkicking your nightmares now Kai is living his best self-destructive life. He can and will dramatically invite himself into scenarios where people he's started to care about are getting swarmed with spiders. You may have thought the "List People Would Probably Die For" was a joke but I assure you it's not. I can only imagine this doesn't end particularly, uh, unscathed for him. He's a dumb fleshy mortal who only knows that him taking bodily harm = someone else doesn't take bodily harm. His sole usefulness as a friend is to be your meatshield.

Vianca is trying really hard not to have a bad time. She already went through one whole big thing involving spidery looking things destroying a city in her first year somewhere, why does this Keep Happening. She is one (1) pikmin and has a history of getting smacked into walls and football spiked so shE'S JUST GONNA. NOT! She does have a pouch full of bandages though and her desire to help usually overrides her survival instincts, so there's that.

Outside of potential plans already proposed, possibilities: Vianca and Shinji could swap info while they're transcribing, he'd be totally down to share whatever pieces of text he gets. Also, if Kai, say, needed to be dragged to safety due to constantly flinging himself into danger, I do have an incredibly tall boy who could facilitate the coveted Kai piggy-back ride. Just a thought. :v

NOCTIS + LUP

NOCT:

Prompt I: Noct isn't really one for books more often than not, but he's going to pretend to be helpful, or possibly get dragged into it by someone. (any volunteers?) It's more likely you'll find him asleep or half-dozing at a table somewhere being useless. Very princely.

Prompt II & III: He's probably going to try and tackle the phantom, because he's sick and tired of having to deal with it by now. (what is good decision-making?) That's... almost a hug! Which means his dreams are fodder for visiting.

There's a few options here that he could be dreaming of, both real and nightmare, including but not limited to:
-the fall of his hometown
-a daemon attack from his childhood
-adventures with his bros
-the imagined death of a dear friend

I can do good or bad, I'm not fussed. Got a preference, let me know!

Prompt IV: This is more his comfort zone, thank god. Noctis will be looking for a fight, and not caring overmuch how dangerous it is. By the end of everything else, his stress levels will be running high and he'll be on the defensive.

He'll be warping all over the place, so if you want a sudden rescue (or TO rescue this occasionally reckless idiot), let's do it!

LUP:

Prompt I: Lup used to be big big BIG on research back in the day, so she's definitely going to get her nerd-goggles on. She also kinda misses working with real books, since that was more her jam back home, and her Mending spells will be useful in restoring them to a better condition (for handling, at least- it can't fix any ruined or illegible writing). In other words, let's work together to fix some BOOKS.

Prompt II & III: So... she's probably going to end up accidentally receiving the hug of doom, because I'm horrible. And The Black Rabbit prompt is going to hit so many un-fun triggers for her? So if you're looking for a place to find Lup in an especially vulnerable position, well. This is the way to do it.

Anyone want to experience the nightmare of your soul being dragged kicking and screaming into a tiny prison of empty dark? :D Because that's a thing.

...also she's probably going to need a hug this time. You can only play it tough and endure so much, right? Oof.

Prompt IV: Lup is a wizard, so she's going to be flying all over the place, setting monsters on fire, chain lightning, occasional stabbing. After all the nightmare fuel, she'll be grateful to have stuff to beat on. However, as your standard glass cannon, she could do with some tougher people around her to help keep her alive.

She can also Polymorph at high levels, so if anybody wants to ride around on a dragon breathing rainbow magic at things, eyyyyy.

I - This isn't really his thing, but he wants to be helpful. He'll spend more time trying to take artsy photos of the books than actually fixing anything.

II/III - The only way he's hugging that thing is accidentally. Don't put it past him to trip into that mess. That said, I'm undecided on what direction I want to go with this. I'm welcome to ideas, if anyone wants to plot something out.

IV - Finally, he can put his gun to use. Not that he's happy about it. But he'll be out there firing away and taking danger selfies. He's primarily a ranged fighter - especially since he doesn't have access to his bigger weapons - so if someone needs cover or backup, he's your man!

Who are you kidding? Verstael is all over this. He'll be spending long hours trying to piece together anything he can.

The good thing about this is that he's a sharer. He will log whatever he finds and it will eventually be shared with the class. He'll also try to learn what everyone else has found.

II-III.
Verstael plans on confronting this stalker, but he has no intention of accepting a hug.

As such, he will be experiencing vertigo during the daylight hours, and doing his best to march through it.

Now, for Verstael's worst nightmare? It would be fire or brimstone or daemons or anything else along those lines. He's ready to take those things head on.
His worst nightmare would be a loss of self. How this could manifest itself could take various forms.

IV.

He's not equipped with a weapon to fight, so if he's caught during the break-in he would need to be rescued - though he's not so stupid as to stand there and take a hit.

Cor has been looking to find information on this world from before things went so bad they made themselves robots. He's been doing his best to investigate this on his own. Once he has his bit to transcribe though he's going to uh... be an emotional wreck for a little bit and then want to sneak around and get copies of what everyone is transcribing. He does not however want the natives to know what he is doing so he may not make something public.

The actual haunting and vertigo thing will be very not okay and in an effort to deal with his past and forgive others/himself like he knows everyone would tell him to he will do the hug thing pretty early on. He knows how all this works. Hugs is how you stop all the bad things.

As soon as the wall goes down (and Cor has been waiting for this since day fucking one) Cor is going to be barking orders and making commands on the network. This is literally what he has trained his entire life for so this is where he excels. Anyone that has been training with him expect to get called out and ordered around. He is going to do his best to organize efforts and spread out the magic users so that they can potentially build enough shields around the break to prevent anything ugly from getting too far into the city.

Honerva's definitely doing some investing/nerdy work, if people are putting heads together about what they find out or if that's coming together as a group, or if anyone just wants to talk more paranoid theory about this place, it's a good opportunity.

Regarding ❥ PROMPT II and III - i still have not quite decided what happens with the figure since on one hand she might nope out and proceed to be on the avoiding sleep as much as possible train until that gets sorted since she's potentially susceptible.

Though she can be available for someone else's III situation either way!

Given the info here, she's... definitely poking around outside because space witch just be like that. It's a little easier for her to get around anyway, she'd definitely recommend that no one else try though if they don't have like. the ability to teleport away... that said she probably won't be feeling too well after that little excursion. Though she can then put her attention toward seeing if anyone is gathering materials to work on mending the actual wall rather than just trying to maintain magical shields indefinitely, however that might work out

➜ Prompt 1 • as an Arcanist Era is a big fan of books and old tomes, so she will be all over the archival restoration efforts. She's very skilled with binding/re-binding leatherbound tomes so this is right up her alley.

She will not be engaging in any physical contact, but she may share information about herself — either in the form of explaining her nerd magic, or telling 'tales' of an adventurer and/or hero of her world. If asked she'll be truthful and say the hero is her, but she won't give up that information unprompted.

➜ Prompt 2 • an an Au Ra, Era will be very confused ('I don't have outer ears, let alone inner ones-') and particularly unprepared to deal with the vertigo side-effect of avoiding the creepy hug. If she tries to power through it and take a walk her tail is going to be more noticeable than usual, sticking right out and moving frequently in an attempt to maintain her balance.

Most likely she'll just be sprawled out miserably somewhere in her shared townhouse, trying not to be dramatic about her suffering.

➜ Prompt 4 • A WONDERFUL GIFT her life has meaning again, yay ;W;

Era will be taking the opportunity to absolutely wreck the monsters with her Summoner repertoire (Demi-Bahamut and Demi-Phoenix being her most iconic aether constructs), though will also use the opportunity before the wall is repaired to explore the land beyond it for a brief period. She'll be more than happy to team up with other fighters, or to use her abilities to save someone in need of it!

She will also be absolutely burning herself out because Era never really takes into account her own limits, so she will be out of commission for at least a few days once everything has calmed down. But characters are more than welcome to try and get her to take a much-needed break during the assault upon the wall!

III. Catch the Rabbit / Mu's nightmares CW: death
White rabbit: I'm up for rescuing other people from their own nightmares. Mu's dream will be the temples in Greece and living alone in his home in the mountains

Black rabbit: He may have hug the slenderman by accident. Feel free to share the dream with him and save him from his nightmares. He dreams about his death where he sacrificed himself, and feels lonely, as he died in a literal Underworld (Hell) in his canon to help save the world. So lonely...

IV. It Warned You / Spider swarm!
...Mu doesn't like spiders. He will prepare himself and gather all matter of weapons. Broomsticks, swords, hoes. Anything to hit them with when he couldn't expend and burn himself out with his psychic energy. Must end them and make them go away.

V.Wildcard
For anything else, he spends time at the VR cafes or reading the book tablets from the library, reading them at the cafes, or working around the city. However, during the spooder swarm attack at the end of the month, he'll be terribly busy. Very busy.
