Leaving it as accidental sounds like it would work best, yes! Since it is less likely she'd be able to place him from his, but if they deal with hers first, some piece might click in for her to realize that that concerning scene she was getting more parts of was relating to him...

Most of hers would likely manifest in some hazy manner of "looking at complicated futuristic screens a lot and also this cat is here" given the first person-view nature of it (LAUGHS), but yeah any memories she may get back are all going to be relatively new to her.

I'm not sure what might interest him enough to ask further about it though; could go with her and the cat meeting for the first time and her deciding to keep him, and get some glimpses of an alien world, which on it's own would be a lot for her even if it sounds simplistic.
