I've been trying to figure out to phrase this question for hours, bear with me:

So, If a character's current 'memory' in a sense has been blocked or tampered with, are these memories that might be floating around based upon what only the character currently "remembers", or can it uncover something they potentially weren't fully aware of?

If not, if their technical memory of an event was sort of from someone-elses-pov because they... accidentally absorbed memories that just happened to relate to them personally because magic energy nonsense I don't make the rules does that count if they've focused on it enough that it might as well be their memory anyway?
