Welcome to Hugtopia! We're so happy to have you all here. We know it can be stressful, starting in a game (or adding a character!) so in an effort to help, we bring you an Intro CR Meme!

We'll be posting this meme each application cycle for all players to meet and plot together, so please be sure to keep an eye out and help each other feel welcome. And be sure to check back often; someone may have a fun new idea in the middle of the night that you might not want to miss out on!

It is recommended that new players or new characters include (NEW) in your subject line, so other players know to welcome you! You can also leave a comment to the NEW top-level mod thread with a link to your own top-level, so people can easily find you.

Appearance: He looks like a serious scientist version of Prompto.
Brief personality: Mad scientist. But still has some humanity for now.
Brief history: Born in Niflheim, he worked his way up the ranks and is currently Research Chief. He figured out how to mass clone meat, had the god Ifrit put in his freezer, and might have found hundreds of thousands of daemons hiding inside of a trenchcoat and fedora.
Shipping Preferences: I'm pretty open. I lean M/M, Verstael leans towards intelligence. I have no problem playing out anything sexual, but he's not an inherently sensual person like that.

What your character wants/needs: Money, information, lab equipment, allies, a good bottle of wine.

Seeking: I'd actually like to have him work on his human side. He's not completely walled off from other people, but he tends to understand standard human interactions in terms of benefits and costs.
I'd like him to grow to appreciate more people beyond how useful they are. And maybe make a another friend.

Maybe he'll even be able to get Sephiroth to appreciate his odd circumstances if they discuss it. He's definitely allowing Sephiroth to loiter about his place as much as he wants, so I'm sure they'll see each other plenty.

Appearance: Blond punk, loves patches and guns
Brief personality: Often upbeat and optimistic. Is happiest making others happy. Is not-so-secretly insecure and at times feels inferior to his peers.
Brief history: Goes on a road trip to see best bud married. Kingdom falls. Road trip turns into crazy RPG adventure. Boys get separated. Prompto learns he's not an only child after all! And also a clone.

And then he got whisked away on a space adventure. Prompto has a couple years worth from of CRAU from Drift Fleet.

Shipping Preferences: He's single. No preferences, and open to possibilities.

What your character wants/needs: He's pretty happy and comfortable, but one can't go wrong with more friends.

Seeking: More exploration. He should really have a photo studio by now...

Appearance: Small, unbrushed teenager who badly needs a nap
Brief personality: Traumatized child soldier. Generally angry. He does not want to be your friend (except he kinda does). Has been told TWICE NOW that he's nice.
Brief history: Son of the god Hades. Born in the 1930s, but his memory was erased and he and his sister were placed in a magical casino where they remained, "unaging", for 70 years. Was eventually taken to a camp with other demigods, but ran away after his sister was killed. Fought in many battles and two wars, raised the dead, brought a different sister back from the dead. Fell into Tartarus and became a POW. Volunteered to transport a statue half way around the world. Almost died - but didn't.

Shipping Preferences: M/M only. But he needs to learn how to love himself before he commits to anyone else.

What your character wants/needs: Friends! Adults he can turn would be nice, too. He has never had reliable adults in his life. He should maybe know what that feels like, at least once.

Seeking: More CR would be great. Positive, negative, whatever. More exploration.

Brief Intro: OTA in the school system (you can all guess how that's going this year) who plays way too much Fire Emblem on my phone. Into rather obscure canons (more books than new anime/manga at this point) that nobody has likely even heard of.

Appearance: Lean and muscular with shoulder length brown hair. Always wears dark sunglasses and carries a staff.
Brief personality: Friendly and humble, but naive. He has very little experience with friendship and absolutely zero with romance so he can be easily embarrassed. Has a bit of a teasing streak once you get to know him.
Brief history: Watched his parents get murdered when he was six and grew up not knowing who/what he was. Eventually discovered he was a magician and began training with them, but was an outcast among the school for starting when he was already so old and progressing so quickly. As a young adults he was chosen as the magician who is supposed to bring together all the magician clans. He's generally hated because of this since he's so young.
Shipping Preferences: None really?

What your character wants/needs: Friends who won't actually abandon him. A chance to experience "normal" childhood/young adult experiences. Opportunities to play around with or learn about new types of magic.

Seeking:

-Maybe having a mentor?
-Potentially someone to seriously embarrass him over his total lack of understanding where romance/flirting are concerned

I would love for them to be allies! Can say we established in our thread that Verstael is different in a few ways from the people at ShinRa and thus has Sephiroth's interest and he 10/10 appreciates the library and concrete plans for leaving the city.

They should discuss things further and see what happens since...ironically Sephiroth feels comfortable in this familiar setting that he would ordinarily not prefer, so he'll be around a lot.

I was on Crystal for ages until I ragequit because party finder was so bad I couldn't prog at all ikytgrdf the raid scene is amazing on Aether ;3;

Era finds the subtler examples of putting yourself down to be more powerful. Like if it's overdramatic that takes effort, but to so casually and easily diminish your self-worth speaks far more volumes. It's v v sad. No she doesn't think this from example shh

What's not to feel comfortable about in a mad scientist's lab?

He, at least, though, can be reasoned with and doesn't spend time talking down to people so much. I'd be happy to have more threads about stuff for a not!friendship.

He'll probably ask questions about things like glowing eyes and materia.

Yes, Verstael's been about a thousand percent more helpful than Hojo in Sephiroth's brief time knowing him. I imagine Hojo coming up like "here's your injection, okay bye" and Sephiroth just having to take it. Whereas Verstael stands a chance of winning his respect. A beautiful not!friendship between two people learning how to properly human?

I am just waiting for mako to come up lol Verstael may have to be tricky getting those other trade secrets.

Brief personality: she's warm and inviting, she greets you with a smile, but actually she's very very sad.
Brief history: back in universe 1.0, she was one of three crystals that functioned in unison in relation to the in-universe god known as the Conduit. then, they destroyed and remade the world. bagillions of years passed as life began anew. then that crystal became a she named mythra. then she destroyed three continents. then that she-named-mythra became another she-named-pyra, and she was entombed and sunken down to the bottom of the cloud sea. that is her current canon point!

Brief personality: while he's kinda still navigating about the whole being-dead-thing, he's generally more at ease with others who are casual and not royalty or people from his world. he's not about joking around, flirting, or grabbing a beer, but he can also be p serious about things when the situation calls. nyx is awful at comforting people.
Brief history: once a special class of solider, he died fighting to preserve the future of his world, which he does not regret doing. now, he's here.
Shipping Preferences: IM NOT OPPOSED TO THIS, but. he's kinda dead...

What your character wants/needs: friends, buddies, sparring partners, people to grab beers with, the heroic types, the ones who push forward, the ones who are courageous and don't need coddling to do what needs to be done.
